Golf Outings is provided by View Newspaper Group to give area service clubs, charitable organizations, non-profits, sports booster clubs and other civic and community organizations an opportunity to publicize their golf outings. If your group or club is hosting a golf outing to raise funds for a charitable or community cause, email your outing information to: dnilsen@mihomepaper.com. SATURDAY, MAY 7

The Lapeer Optimist Club will hold the 41st annual Douglas A. Henley Memorial Golf Outing on May 7 at METAMORA GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB,witha9a.m.start.Theeventisatribute to Doug Henley, a charter member of the Lapeer Optimist Club in 1958 who died in 1975. It was Henley’s vision in the 1970’s that transformed the First Baptist Church into the Henley Recreation Center, which was the forerunner of the current Lapeer Community Center. The North Branch Bronco Athletics Golf Scramble will be held May 14 at WASHAKIE GLF COURSE in North Branch, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $60 per person or $240 per team. Longest drive and closest to the pin prizes, 50/50 drawing, lunch at the turn, water and pop provided. The Lapeer County Hockey Association will hold its golf outing May 14 at METAMORA GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB starting at 1 p.m. The $85 entry fee includes golf, lunch and dinner. SUNDAY, MAY 15

The third annual Relay for Life 2016 Golf Outing, sponsored by the Weingartz Warriors, will be held May 15 at CASTLE CREEK, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Two divisions, two winners. Teams must be a foursome consisting of two men and two women, or the first 10 men’s teams. Cash prizes to be awarded based on number of teams. Cost is $60 per golfer or $240 per team, which includes 18 holes with cart, hot dog at the turn, dinner and skins. Dinner-only ticket is $10. The Andy Verplanck Memorial Golf Tournament will be held May 21 at CASTLE CREEK GOLF COURSE in Lum. Tee time 9 a.m. sharp. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per team. The Marine Corps League Flint Detachment will hold its annual golf outing June 18 at IMA BROOKWOOD. Registration is at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $65 per person, which includes 18 holes with cart, driving range, coffee and donuts, lunch at the turn and a New York strip dinner. A $260 first prize will be awarded in three categories: men, women and seniors (65+). Also longest drive and closest to pin in all three categories. The Flint Regional Safari Chapter is hosting its second annual golf outing at LAPEER COUNTRY CLUB on June 25, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. This is a fundraiser to help wounded warriors, disabled vets, school shooting teams, scholarship programs and other community causes. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. The Almont Raiders Girls Golf Charity Golf Outing will be held June 26 at HEATHER HILLS. Registrationisatnoon,witha1p.m.shotgun start. Cost is $100 per golfer which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and dinner at Heather Hills. All funds will be used for the Almont girls’ golf team. The Doug Halstead Memorial Knickers and Kilts Open will be held July 16 at SUGARBUSH in Davison. The four-person scramble is also the 10th annual Burton & Davison/Richfield Fire/Rescue Outing and was re-named for longtime Burton Fire Chief Halstead, who died in March 2014. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., free lunch at the turn and dinner and prizes to follow. The Rosenwald Harlanites, Inc. eighth annual Scholarship Golf Outing will be held Aug. 13 at the CAPTAIN’S CLUB OF WOODFIELD in Grand Blanc, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Registration fee is $75 by July 15 and $80 after, and includes lunch. Sponsorships are $100 or (new this year) $500 major sponsorships. There will be a hole-in-one contest plus 50/50 raffle, closest to the pin and longest drive contests. Mulligans and skins available, plus a silent auction and door prizes. Everyone is invited to join Les and Rhoda in their back yard for food, fun and prizes at 2 p.m. RHI has awarded $31,500 to college students since 2010, including $4,000 to three students last year.
