The Sullivan Scramble will be held July 9 on the Forest Akers West Course at Michigan State University. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. The outing benefits the Sullivan family, whose son John was struck by lightning 31 years ago while playing Forest Akers in a junior invitational high school event which left John paralyzed from the neck down. Cost is $400 per team, which includes golf, cart, lunch and team photo. Awards for top three teams, men’s and women’s longest drive and closest to the pin, putting contest, beat the pro and a hole-in-one contest (car). The Imlay City Volleyball Fundraiser Golf Outing will be held July 9 at CASTLE CREEK. Registrationisat8a.m.,witha9a.m.start. The four-person scramble costs $65 per golfer, which includes golf, hot dog at the turn, dinner and prize raffles. Dinner held at the Purvis home. Extra meal tickets are $10. The Doug Halstead Memorial Knickers and Kilts Open will be held July 16 at SUGARBUSH in Davison. The four-person scramble is also the 10th annual Burton & Davison/Richfield Fire/ Rescue Outing and was re-named for longtime Burton Fire Chief Halstead, who died in March 2014. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team. Registration starts at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., free lunch at the turn and dinner and prizes to follow. The fifth annual Redwood Charity Golf Classic will be played July 18 at SPRING MEADOWS. Check-in and lunch is from 11 a.m.-noon, with a shotgun start at noon. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is hosting its 15th annual “Drive to End Hunger” Golf Outing on July 25 at SAGINAW COUNTRY CLUB. The four-person scramble will have a shotgun start at 10 a.m. sharp. Cost is $100 per player, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, New York strip steak dinner at 5 p.m., open bar from 4-6 p.m. and door prizes. The Lapeer Junior Lightning will hold their second annual golf outing July 30 at METAMORA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $300 per four-player team. The 13th annual golf outing to benefit Make- A-Wish Michigan will be held Aug. 6 at HADLEY ACRES. The Rosenwald Harlanites, Inc. eighth annual Scholarship Golf Outing will be held Aug. 13 at the CAPTAIN’S CLUB OF WOODFIELD in Grand Blanc, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Registration fee is $75 by July 15 and $80 after, and includes lunch. Sponsorships are $100 or (new this year) $500 major sponsorships. There will be a hole-in-one contest plus 50/50 raffle, closest to the pin and longest drive contests.
