THURSDAY, JUNE 18

A day of golf, food and fun is planned at the eighth annual Amy Simon Memorial Golf Scramble and Silent Auction on June 18 at the CAPTAIN’S CLUB OF WOODFIELD in Grand Blanc. The outing supports Make-AWish Michigan in memory of Amy, who died of cancer at age 13. Golfers will receive range balls, a continental breakfast, a ball cap, 18 holes of golf with cart, a snack at the turn, a buffet lunch, a sleeve of balls and other gifts. Non-golfers are invited to come for the lunch, the silent auction and the program, starting around 2 p.m. The cost is $95 for golfers and $35 for those attending the lunch and auction only. Tee time is 8:45 a.m. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m., allowing ample time for breakfast, range balls and participation in a putting contest. The Marine Corps League, Flint Detachment Golf Outing will be held on June 20 at IMA BROOKWOOD GOLF COURSE. Registration 8 a.m., shotgun start 9 a.m. Entry $65 per person or $260 per team. Includes 18 holes with cart, hot dogs, burgers, brats, chips and a drink at the turn. Steak dinner at end. $200 prizes for first place men’s, women’s and senior (65+) teams, longest drive and closest to the pin. Hole-in-one on designated hole wins a new furnace by Holland Heating. The third annual Doyle Rice’s Grand Creek Golf Outing will be held June 20 at CAPTAIN’S CLUB in Grand Blanc. Registration and range open at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cash bar and hors d’oeuvres from 2-3 p.m., with dinner at 3 p.m. Cost is $125 per golfer if paid by June 6, or $140 afterwards. Dinner only is $50. Guest speaker is former Detroit Lions and NFL coach Woody Widenhofer. The Ancient Order of Hibernians Sullivan and O’Sullivan Division will hold the 30th annual Pat Keller Memorial Shillelagh Swing on June 20 at THE JEWEL. The four-person scramble begins with registration at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The outing benefits St. Patrick’s Retreat (a camp for children with cancer), the Disability Network, Special Olympics Area XIII and the Shrine Children’s Burn Center. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, beer, pop and hot dogs at the turn, and dinner after the event. Prizes awarded for first and second place men’s regular division and first place men’s senior division (total team age 220 years or over), plus longest drive (over and under 50 years), women’s longest drive and closest to pin. The Greater Flint Sunrise Rotary will be hosting their 23rd annual golf scramble on July 17 at SUGARBUSH GOLF CLUB in Davison, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Corporate sponsorship with a team entry is $675 or an individual player fee is $125. Participants receive a goodie bag, green fees, cart, continental breakfast, lunch on the course, post-round hors d’oeuvres, door prizes for everyone and special tournament gifts.
