Solstice, the first day of summer and the longest day and shortest night of the year arrives June 21. The dawn’s early light will begin at 6:07 a.m. Some of the most colorful sunsets also occur around solstice time. And don’t forget to check out your shadow at noon when you will cast the shortest shadow thanks to the solstice. Solstice also marks the point when the days will begin to grow shorter, as the Earth continues its orbit around the sun, drawing us closer to the shorter, darker hours of fall and winter
