GRAND BLANC — The City of Grand Blanc and Downtown Development Authority cooked up a celebration for the senses when the annual food truck festival series kicked off Friday, June 24, downtown.

The band 3rd Degree Burns provided the live soundtrack for the event, the beat bouncing on the breeze along with squeals from the splash pad.

Taste-tempting aromas wafted from 13 food vendors, and hundreds of local residents and visitors strolled along Grand Boulevard and the winding paths of Physicians Park, visiting the Grand Chalet Shoppes and chatting with friends old and new. The Boy Scouts joined in the fun, offering free s’mores.

“It was fantastic, very well-attended,” said Assistant City Manager Christina Irwin. “It was a fun night for everybody.”

Irwin said she has 17 or 18 food vendors lined up for the July 8 food truck festival and concert, when the Beatles tribute band Toppermost entertains the crowd.

The series continues July 22 with Rachelle Rae and the Banned, and concludes Aug. 5 with Music Happening providing a variety of music.

The Aug. 5 event coincides with the kickoff of the Grand Blanc Arts Council’s annual art fair in Physicians Park.
