Grand Blanc kicks off holiday season with Festival of Lights

GRAND BLANC — The City of Grand Blanc will celebrate the holiday season with the third annual Festival of Lights next week.

Santa and the Grinch will make special guest appearances, and there will be free cocoa, popcorn and s’mores.

“Festival of Lights brings our community together to celebrate the start of the holiday season,” said Assistant City Manager Christina Irwin.

The city is partnering with the Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce and Elga Credit Union to present the free event from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Grand Chalet Shoppes and Physicians Park.

“My favorite part of the tree lighting is seeing everyone so excited for the season,” Irwin said. “Holidays are a great time to be with family and friends.”

Santa will be available for photo opportunities from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Grand Chalet Shoppes, and from 6:30-8 p.m. at Physicians Park. Santa will have some special gifts at the Grand Chalet Shoppes so stop in early.

The grand tree lighting takes place promptly at 6 p.m., followed by the Grand Boulevard light show walk from 6-8 p.m.

Bring your skates, because the ice rink at Physicians Park will be available for open skating. In addition, the Grand Chalet Shoppes will be open for shopping.
