INDEPENDENCE TWP. — A Grand Blanc man was one of four teens arrested May 6 in connection with a series of larcenies from automobiles in Oakland County.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residence in the Spring Lake Subdivision.
Upon arrival, deputies began looking for individuals who were reported to be ringing doorbells. As a deputy was turning into the subdivision, he observed a vehicle occupied by a female and three males, leaving the subdivision, according to the report.
A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. A second deputy, who was responding as back-up, observed a male dressed in all black clothing walking inside the subdivision.
Deputies stopped the subject who was on foot. He informed the deputy he had been inside the vehicle with the other four subjects but became separated from them.
The subject was in possession of a computer tablet and a credit card which he admitted to taking from a vehicle inside the subdivision. He was taken into custody and transported to the location of the traffic stop.
During the traffic stop, deputies observed multiple items lying in plain view inside the vehicle signifying the occupants had been involved in multiple larceny from automobile incidents.
The additional four suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Independence Township Substation to speak with a detective.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered stolen items and cash belonging to residents of the subdivision.
Reports said further a detective responded to the scene to begin the investigation. One victim has subsequently been identified. Detectives will be continuing with the investigation and suspects were arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
Two are 18-year-old males from Flint, one is an 18-year-old man from Grand Blanc and the fourth is a 17-year-old Linden man. — G.G.
