— Michigan Blood invites the public to help save lives by giving blood from noon-6 p.m. Oct. 22 at Center Courts, located in the Genesee Valley Center, G-3341 S. Linden Rd.
Every three seconds, someone needs blood and on average, one out of every seven people entering the hospital will need blood. Michigan Blood must collect 300 pints of blood every day to meet the needs of hospitals across the state.
No appointments are necessary to give blood; walk-ins are welcome. Donors must be at least 17 years old, healthy and weight at least 110 pounds. Donors also need to bring a photo ID and two other forms of non-photo ID. Donors need to allow 45-60 minutes for donating. Giving a pint of blood only takes 7-10 minutes, but additional time is needed for pre-donation screening and postdonation snack/rest time.
