Halloween haunts: Monster Mash, haunted tunnel, trunk-or-treat coming up

ALL AREAS — The witching hour is nearly upon us and some area groups are conjuring up a few fun Halloween happenings to help all the ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties get into the spirit of the season.

The Monster Mash family dance party has become a Halloween-time tradition in Swartz Creek.

The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in the gym at Mary Crapo. Admission costs $2 per person at the door.

In addition to music and dancing, youngsters in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade – and their families – may purchase game tickets for chances to win prizes.

The annual haunted tunnel at Dieck Elementary will offer thrills and chills from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Admission costs $3. This is a family event.

For the grown-ups, the Barons Motorcycle Club is hosting a party at their clubhouse in Gaines. Doors open at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

Food, pumpkin contest, costume contest, beverages and live music with Midnight Train.

Gaines Township youngsters have a tough time trick-or-treating with the houses being spaced so far apart in much of the township. As a result, the township Fire Department invites the kids to a Halloween party from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Station 1 on Grand Blanc Road. There will be candy and hot dogs.

Also on Halloween night, the village of Lennon will be the place for trunk-or-treating. Decorate your car to win the best-looking car award. The Lennon Lions Club will provide apples and cider. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — L.R.
