UNIVERSITY CENTER — The Carman- Ainsworth cross country team will travel to Delta College on Saturday to participate in regional No. 1-1 hosted by Bay City Western.

The boys’ race will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the girls’ race taking place at 11:30 a.m.

Carman-Ainsworth boys’ team will be up against a tough field that includes fourth-ranked Grand Blanc, eighth-ranked Traverse City Central and ninthranked Saginaw Hertiage.

The girls’ field includes Traverse City Central, ranked No. 7, and Midland Dow as the Saginaw Valley League champions.

The top three teams and any individual in the top 15 not on those teams advance to the state meet on Nov. 3 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The fourth-place team will also advance if they place four runners in the top 20.

Also attending the regional meet will be Lapeer East, Lapeer West, Swartz Creek, Davison, Alpena, Bay City Central, Bay City Western, Flushing, Midland and Traverse City West.

Leading the girls’ squad most of the year have been Randi Richardson and Shelby Marsh, while the boys’ team will look to James Johnson to lead the team.
