HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races weekend race details





 

 

FLINT — The HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races held a press conference yesterday to detail the weekend’s race details and to honor its special guests. Greg Meyer and Tom Whitt shared their stories of their achievements and passed the torch to the next generations of runners. Race Director Andrew Younger walked through the weekend’s activities and announced the official unveiling and dedication of the new Riverfront Crim Plaza.

Speakers included: Bruce Hill, CEO, HealthPlus; Andrew Younger, Crim Fitness Foundation Race Director; Greg Meyer, Crim Elite Athlete Coordinator, Winner of the Second Crim, and Running Legend; Thomas Whitt, Grand Blanc Police Officer; Mark Yonan, Chair, Crim Fitness Foundation; Bobby Crim, Founder of Crim Fitness Foundation; Dave Isbell, Owner, Grand Blanc Motorcars; Laurie Prochazka, Corporate Director Marketing & Communications, McLaren Health Care

To kick off the yearly event, the Commit to Fit! Health and Fitness Expo takes place at Riverfront Residence Hall, 1 Riverfront Center West in Flint. Race Bib/Packet Pick Up and Late Registration runs from 2-8 p.m., today, Aug. 21; 11a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 and 7 a.m. – noon, Saturday, Aug. 23.

Race Day registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 8 a.m.

On Friday, Aug. 22, The Michigan Mile Race Series kicks off at 7 p.m. with the Professional Mile – Women sponsored by ATI Physical Therapy. At 7:07 p.m. the Professional Mile Men sponsored by ATI Physical Therapy hits the course followed at 7:20 p.m. with the USATF Masters Road Mile National Championship – Women. At 7:30 p.m., the USATF Masters Road Mile National Championship – Men race followed by: 7:45p.m. – High School Challenge – Men & Women; 7:55 p.m. – Young Runners Mile – Boys & Girls 12 & Younger (parents welcome); 8:05 p.m. – Michigan Mile Open – All Ages & Abilities; Festival Hours: 6 – 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, the 10 Mile Run/Walk presented by McLaren Flint takes place with the following schedule: 7:30 a.m. – Wheelers and hand cyclists, sponsored by Fusion Medial; 7:45 a.m. – 30 Year Runners; 8am – Run/Walk; 8K presented by Mid-Michigan Toyota Dealers/Grand Blanc Motorcars: 9:30am – Run; 9:40 – Walk; 5K presented by FirstMerit Bank: 10 a.m. – Run; 10:10 a.m. – Family Walk (strollers allowed in final wave); 5K Start line will remain open until 10:45 a.m. to accommodate Crim Half Combo racers (10 Mile + 5K)

Teddy Bear Trot presented by Financial Plus Federal Credit Union: noon (parents welcome to accompany kids); Race starts in front of City Hall on Saginaw Street and ends at festival finish line. Distance: .29 miles

Festival Hours: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
