View Newspapers launches two new publications Aug. 5


GENESEE COUNTY
— View Newspapers will publish weekly newspapers in Swartz Creek and Flint Township beginning Aug. 5.

Publishing on Thursdays, the two newspapers bring the total of View products in Genesee County to five — with a combined weekly circulation reaching more than 70,000 homes.

The View Newspaper Group currently consists of 14 publications: Lapeer Area View, Grand Blanc
View, Burton View, Davison Index, The County
Press
(Wednesday and Sunday), The County Press
Extra, The Banner (Brown City), Sanilac County
News, Sanilac Buyers Guide, Huron County Press,
Thumb Blanket, Jeffersonian, Tri County Citizen
and Home Seekers.

The addition of the Swartz Creek and Flint Township Views on Aug. 5 will bring the total number of publications to 16.

The Swartz Creek and Flint Township papers will be delivered by the US Postal Service to 8,968 homes in Swartz Creek and 7,896 homes in Flint Township.

View Newspaper Group will now reach more than 231,690 homes in Lapeer, Genesee, Shiawassee, Saginaw, Sanilac, Tuscola and Huron counties.

“Genesee County is a growth area for the View Newspaper Group,” said Group Publisher Peter Neill. “We will now have five publications in the county delivered to your mailbox via the United States Postal Service.

“Our strength is local community coverage in edi- torial and a strong vehicle which delivers proven results for advertisers. We will bring readers all their essential local information both in print and on the web, from government to schools, from high schools sports to participatory sports, from entertainment to local calendars.”

Staffing the new publications will be Managing Editor Gary Gould, Sports Editor Lisa Paine, Staff Writer Natalie Blythe and Account Executive Cheryll Rak.

Gould has been managing editor of the Genesee County View Newspapers since 2008. He began his career in journalism in 1988 as a reporter with The West Valley News
— which used to cover Swartz Creek and Flint Township. He also worked for 13 years with The Oakland Press

Paine has been with VIEW Newspapers nearly since its inception joining the staff in 2004 as a sports writer. She took over as Sports Editor in Sept. 2005. The sports department currently produces nine sports sections each week covering 20 high schools over three counties.

The sports department has won numerous Michigan Press Association awards for its writing and overall sports coverage. A Lapeer resident for the past 21 years, Paine is an avid hunter and outdoorsman and has been a member of the National Field Archers and Michigan Archers Associations since 1989. Blythe joined VIEW Newspapers
in 2007 as a staff writer when the company launched The Burton
VIEW.
With more than a decade of newspaper experience, Blythe has extensively covered several beats, including local municipalities and school districts.
