Swartz Creek Area Art Guild President Zophael Ray and guild member Nancy Olds paint hopscotch lines on the walking trail at Mundy Miracle Commons, located on Hill Road in Mundy Township. John Dwyer takes a spin on the court while Olds and Kelly Dwyer look on. Guild members painted four hopscotch courts using stencils made by Carole Hickey. The guild has several upcoming classes, including tag art, beginner sewing of glove monsters, altered board books, drawing in nature for teens, interpretive self-portraiture, and acrylic painting. Many classes are free thanks to a grant from the Greater Flint Arts Council’s Share Art Genesee grant program. For information on upcoming classes, visit www.swartzcreekareaartguild.org/ classes. The guild also will have a tent with face painting and 3D printed pumpkins to paint at Jeepers Creekers on Oct. 9, and 3D pumpkins to paint at the Flint Horror Collective. They also will begin a series of art classes for senior citizens at the Flushing Area Senior Center on Thursdays in November.
