Welcome the holidays, Renaissance-style

FLINT — The University of Michigan-Flint’s celebrated Chamber Singers present the annual Madrigal Dinner followed by the Sounds of the Seasons Concert on Dec. 7-8, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 711 S. Saginaw St., Flint.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the Chamber Singers performing a concert of seasonal choral music at 7:30 p.m.

The Madrigal Dinner is a professional recreation of the Renaissance celebrations held during the 12 days of Christmas, with guests transported back to the 16th Century for an evening of storytelling, feasting, merriment and song.

Both nights begin with an intimate catered dinner and a recounting of the tale of two aging monarchs — King Wenceslas and Queen Ismay–and their search for a bride for their son, Prince Hadrian. Following the meal, guests will proceed to the church’s nave, where they will enjoy seasonal chorale music performed by the celebrated UM-Flint Chamber Singers.

Whaley House open for tours

Live entertainment at Louie’s Sports Tavern

LAPEER — Louie’s Sports Tavern, 3301 Davison Rd., will feature Team Trivia Begins every Wednesday 7-9 p.m. Prizes for winners each night 1st-3rd place.

Louie’s Sports Tavern will feature Davison Magpie starting at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 23.

On Nov. 24, starting at noon, is the Ohio State vs. U-M game. Jaime Marvin and Myk Rise will perform at Louie’s starting at 9:30 p.m.
