Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present Karaoke Night, Jan. 14. Doors open at 7 p.m. There is no cover for this show. Mushroomhead with the Rich Guzzi Psycho Hypnosis Show will perform Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. On Jan. 28 Dirty Rotten Imbeciles will perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance. Non Point with Straight Line Stitch will perform Jan. 29. The show is $15 in advance. Country-western fun at Wild Spurs

GRAND BLANC — Wild Spurs, part of The Jewel Entertainment Complex, at 5270 Perry Rd., features live bands Friday and Saturday nights. Friday nights are country music and Saturday’s are rock and roll. Local band to play for Adopt a Pet Inc.

MUNDY TWP. — The Rusty Wright Band and The Lava Room will host a fundraiser for Adopt a Pet Inc. of Fenton at 8 p.m. Jan. 29. The Lava Room, lG-2520 Hill Rd., is located in the Shap’s Restaurant building. The Lava Room entrance is at the rear of the building.

Adopt a Pet Inc. is a non-profit animal rescue organization with a no-kill policy. The Jan. 29 show is a rare local appearance for the Genesee County-based band which now spends much of the year touring nationally and internationally. Rusty and Laurie were longtime Davison residents and Laurie is a 1977 DHS alumni.— G.G.

The Whiting presents Russian National Ballet Theatre’s ‘Swan Lake’

FLINT — The Whiting will present Russian National Ballet Theatre’s “Swan Lake,” set to the magnificent music of Tchaikovsky, for one breathtaking performance on Jan. 15, at 8 p.m. Ticket prices range from $17-$39 and are available online at www.thewhiting.com, or by phoning 810-237- 7333 and by walk up at The Ticket Center located within The Whiting. The Whiting is located at 1241 E. Kearsley St. just off I-475 between the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College on the beautiful Flint Cultural Center campus.

Under the direction of Elena Radchenko, the Russian National Ballet has focused on upholding the Grand National tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia. The classic fairytale is presented in three acts and comes to life with lavish costumes, handpainted backdrops and breathtaking scenery.
