Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present Red with special guests Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Taddy Porter, June 24. Tickets are $17 in advance.

The Mushroomhead Old School Show will come to the Machine Shop July 8 with special guests J Mann and Roxy. Tickets are $20 in advance.

10 Years with special guests the Sons of Disaster and Stealing Betty will perform July 9. Tickets are $15 in advance.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for all shows listed.

Music in the Parks schedule

GENESEE COUNTY — The Flint Symphony Orchestra & The Whiting present Music in the Parks. These are free outdoor concerts being held throughout the summer around Genesee County. Here are the dates and times:

June 30 — Crossroads Village. Music Under the Stars at 7 p.m. with the Flint Symphony Orchestra and members of the Flint Jubilee Chorale. The rain location is the warehouse at Crossroads Village.

July 7 — Kearsley Park. The Hot Club of Detroit at 7 p.m. Listen as this award-winning band plays their style of gypsy jazz. Rain location is Kearsley Park Pavilion. — G.G.

July 26 — Mott Park at 7 p.m. On the corner of Nolen and Dougherty. Sponsored by Kettering University. A Gospel Celebration with special guests The Flint Area Gospel Musicians & Directors Fellowship with the Flint Jubilee Chorale and Flint Jubilee Gospel Singers. Rain location: St. John Vianney Church.

Aug. 19 — Downtown Flint at 6:30 p.m. on N. Saginaw St. in front of the U of M Pavillion. The concert is sponsored by University of Michigan- Flint. Part of Back to the Bricks Concert broadcast live on ABC12. The Flint Symphony Orchestra with Sonny Turner, former lead singer of The Platters, will perform. Rain location: U of M-Flint Recreation Center.

Audience members are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a picnic.

The Whiting’s new season is on sale now

FLINT — The Whiting has announced its lineup for its season starting this fall and tickets are now on sale for all shows.

You can order online at www.thewhiting.com, or call the Ticket Center at 810-237-7333 or toll free 888-8CENTER. You can also visit the Ticket Center at 1241 E. Kearsley St., Flint. Ticket Center Hours are Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. They will be closed July 1 and Sept. 5. — G.G.
