Rotten Sneaker contest
FLINT — Stinky sneakers rule! The Michigan Odor- Eaters Rotten SneakerSM contest is the ultimate test of just how offensive sneakers can get when they’re not taken care of properly.
Genesee County Parks’ Bluebell Beach, 5500 Bray Rd., is the only location in the state of Michigan where the national Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest will be held. To participate, you must register at Bluebell Beach. Registration begins at 1 p.m. at the Bathhouse. The contest will be held Aug. 20, from 2-3 p.m. at Bluebell Beach’s Bathhouse. To enter the contest, children must be between the ages of 5-15 years old and must wear their naturally worn and torn sneakers. There is no cost Adults must accompany children.
This contest is limited to the first 25 registered children. The winner will receive $250 in cash, the golden sneaker award, a merit certificate and a basket of Odor- Eaters products. Details: 810-241-0684. — G.G. Music in the Parks schedule
GENESEE COUNTY — The Flint Symphony Orchestra & The Whiting present Music in the Parks. These are free outdoor concerts being held throughout the summer around Genesee County. Here are the dates and times:
July 26 — Mott Park at 7 p.m. On the corner of Nolen and Dougherty. A Gospel Celebration with special guests The Flint Area Gospel Musicians & Directors Fellowship with the Flint Jubilee Chorale and Flint Jubilee Gospel Singers. Rain location: St. John Vianney Church.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and a picnic.
