FLINT — The Whiting has announced its lineup for its season starting this fall and tickets are now on sale for all shows. RICHFIELD TWP. — Davison’s premier Blues festival is scheduled for Aug. 6 at the Davison Eagles on M- 15 in Davison and will feature nine bands this year. The concert is a fundraiser for Davison Care & Share, which has provided food, clothing and toys for families in need around Davison for more than 30 years.

Performing this year at I Chews the Blues will be: Robert Penn, Jones’n, Argentucky Blues, Motor City Josh, Joe Wright & Friends, Bebe & The Blues Masters, Mike Espy Group & William “Yak” Smith, the Marc Adams Band featuring Gabriel and Gideon Klein and Rusty Steele & The Sandblasters.

The festival begins at noon under the tent at the Davison Eagles and will feature almost non-stop entertainment until 11 p.m. when the last band wraps up. Food and refreshments will be available along with raffles and a souvenir stand. Tickets are $15, available at the Davison Eagles. Details: 810-252-3768. — G.G. Bluebell Beach to host Rotten Sneaker contest

FLINT — Stinky sneakers rule! The Michigan Odor- Eaters Rotten SneakerSM contest is the ultimate test of just how offensive sneakers can get when they’re not taken care of properly. Sneakers are judged on the conditions of the sole, tongue, heel, toe, laces or Velcro, eyelets/grommets, overall condition and most important ODOR. Genesee County Parks’ Bluebell Beach, 5500 Bray Rd., is the only location in the state of Michigan where the national Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest will be held. You must register at Bluebell Beach at 1 p.m. The contest will be held Aug. 20, from 2-3 p.m. at Bluebell Beach’s Bathhouse.

To enter the contest, children must be between the ages of 5-15 years of age and they must wear their naturally worn and torn sneakers. The cost to participate is free. Adults must accompany children.

This contest is limited to the first 25 registered children. The winner will receive $250 in cash, the golden sneaker award, a merit certificate and a basket of Odor-Eaters products.
