Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop
FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present My Darkest Days, with special guests Heart Self Destruct and False City, Sept. 2. Tickets are $15 in advance. Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman featuring Tim McIlrath from Rise Against and Wayne Kramer from the MC5 will perform Sept. 7. Tickets are $25 in advance. The Skys the Limit Tour featuring It Lies Within and Know Lyfe, with special guests Givensix, After the Minor, Group Therapy and Myths and Legends will perform Sept. 8. The King and I opens Sept. 8
FLINT — The Flint Community Players will begin performances of the musical “The King and I” on Sept. 8 at the Bower Theater, 1220 E. Kearsley St. The show will star Heather Durham of Grand Blanc as Anna and Paul Ray of Swartz Creek as the King. Derby Girls to start season
MT. MORRIS — The Mid Michigan Derby Girls
will hold their first home bout of the season Sept. 24. The game is at Skateland Arena in Mt. Morris, doors open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m., tickets are $6 in advance, $8 at the door and 12-years-old and under are free. The Outsiders at FYT
FLINT — Flint Youth Theatre presents a staged reading of The Outsiders, based on the novel written by S. E. Hinton and adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel. This Special Event inaugurates the 2011-2012 Signature Series with its theme RITES OF PASSAGE ENCORE: Transitions and Transformations. The Outsiders is FYT’s third annual season kick-off and will be held on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The event will take place at FYT, 1220 East Kearsley Street in the Flint Cultural Center, using FYT’s Main Entrance.
