Animals Out of Paper unfolds at UM-Flint

FLINT — The University of Michigan-Flint Department of Theatre and Dance presents the play Animals Out of Paper, Sept. 22–25, at the UM-Flint Black Box Theatre, 303 E. Kearsley St., Flint. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10. Animals Out of Paper is written by Rajiv Joseph, 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, and directed by UMFlint lecturer Phillip Barnhart. Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present Endless Nameless: A Nirvana Tribute, Sept. 24. This low dough concert is a celebration of 20 years since the release of Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album. The Machine Shop will host the Project Independent Metal Showcase on Sept. 30, hosted by Metal Sanaz with Aghori, Deadringer, Genocya, Sin Theorem, Silent Divide and Opposition. Derby Girls to start season on Sept. 24 at Skateland

MT. MORRIS — The Mid Michigan Derby Girls will hold their first home bout of the season Sept. 24. The game is at Skateland Arena in Mount Morris, doors open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m., tickets are $6 in advance, $8 at the door and 12-years-old and under are free. The Bacon Brothers to perform at The Whiting

FLINT — The Whiting will present The Bacon Brothers, featuring Kevin and Michael Bacon, to kick off its 2011-12 season on Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and range from $19-$39.
