Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present Pop Evil’s Acoustic Christmas Concert, Dec. 22, with special guests Fifth Way and Vi Folly. Tickets are $13 in advance. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Shelter of Flint, Inc On Dec. 22, Pop E will perform with special guests Dead Letter Circus, Aficionado and Avenue Sky. Tickets are $12 in advance. The Rock Star Annual Christmas Bash: 80s Hair band Tribute Concert, will be Dec. 23. This is a low dough show. The New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball & Psycho Circus Sideshow featuring It Lies Within, Given Six and 5kultu3 will be held Dec. 31. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show. The Wizard of Oz travels to The Whiting!

FLINT — The greatest family musical of all time, The Wizard of Oz, is touching down in Flint as The Whiting brings this national treasure to our community Jan. 14 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. for two spectacular performances Tickets for The Wizard of Oz are on sale now and start at only $23. This magical production, based on the Royal Shakespeare Company’s celebration of the 1939 MGM movie, is presented with breathtaking special effects that will sweep audiences away, from the moment the tornado twists its way into Kansas. Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow are transported “Over the Rainbow” to adventures in Munchkin Land, the Haunted Forest and the Emerald City. Local children from the Flint area will be performing the roles of “munchkins.” Singing timeless classics such as “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead,” the children help bring this beloved classic to the stage of their hometown as part of their continuing performing arts education.
