Concerts coming up at The Machine Shop

FLINT — The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, will present Brother Caine including Zack Myers of Shinedown and Chuck Garric of Alice Cooper’s band with special guests Dirty Americans and The Hangers On, March 2. Tickets are $15 in advance.

Banana 101.5’s 2011 Top Local Bands Listener Picks with Tension Head, Westfall, Given Six and The Product with perform March 3 at 8 p.m. This is a low dough show.

Burn Halo with special guests 2 Heded Chan, The Mud Suns and Dirty Whiskey will perform March 9. This is a low dough show.

FIA to hold special artist


FLINT — The Flint Institute of Arts Art Sales and Rental Gallery, which features different artists whose works are displayed throughout two months at the gallery, will hold an artist reception March 4, from 1-3 p.m. featuring the VSA Michigan, which stands for Very Special Arts.

VSA Michigan is a state organization on arts and disability, and more than 900 children, youth and adults in Genesee County with disabilities are involved. Many of these individuals, and their instructors, will be at the reception with their works.

The works will also be displayed at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery throughout March and April. Through artist residencies in classrooms, afterschool programs, adult art clubs and exnibits, VSA artists engage in the visual and performing arts.

FYT tickets for Henry and Mudge on sale

FLINT — Tickets are now available for Flint Youth Theatre’s presentation of Henry and Mudge. This FYT Special Event will be on April 5 with performances at 2- 4:30 p.m. This performance offers families an affordable entertainment experience and, paired with a book from the best-selling Henry and Mudge series, it will make a memorable gift this holiday season.
