FLINT — Last year The Hurley Foundation Golf Classic raised more than $120,000 for their trauma centers.
With their 30th Annual event this coming Sept. 8, they hope to surpass that.
Their Level I Trauma Center is the highest volume one in the entire state of Michigan, admitting more than 1,500 patients annually. The hospital serves more than 22 counties and receives transfers of more than 300 patients per year.
“Hurley Medical Center is proud to be the premier public teaching hospital and the region’s only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in the region, caring for critically ill adults and children, around the clock,” said Michael McCann, DO, FACOS, FACS, Chief of Trauma Surgery and Critical Care.
The Golf Classic benefits also go towards their Level II Burn Unit and Pediatric Trauma Center, highly praised and glorified through recent medicals triumphs such as the care and recovery of now nationally known young Isaiah Struck.
Their triumphs great and small happen daily, and the story of Struck is just one of the many shining examples of the high caliber care and skilled surgical life improvements in each unit within the hospital.
The golf event is just one of the many ways the hospital can continue to provide such state-of-the-art equipment and ensure the amazing and abundant care and number of staff are on hand to utilize it, for the best outcome for each patient that enters their doors.
“The funds raised at the Hurley Trauma Golf Classic will allow us to continue caring for and treating patients with the most exceptional level of patient and family centered care possible,” said McCann.
The Golf Classic will be held at the Flint Golf Club, 3100 Lakewood Drive. For the evening event of the benefit, examples of Hurley’s impact beyond the surrounding Flint community will be showcased.
