— Kohl’s Department Stores has awarded $119,445 to the Hurley Foundation for a new program: “Kohl’s Cares for Healthy Kids.”
The program’s goal is to teach children and their parents to make healthy food choices and increase their daily physical activity. This yearlong awareness campaign will feature events at the Flint Farmer’s Market, Flint Children’s Museum, two elementary schools, one middle school, the Hurley Health and Fitness Center, and University of Michigan Recreation Center.
An extensive media campaign, including radio commercials and public service announcements on several different stations, will reach parents with information about the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles in their children. Print materials, including pamphlets, will be widely distributed at events and through physician offices.
Please join us for the “Kohl’s Cares for Healthy Kids” kick-off Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Flint Farmer’s Market, 420 East Boulevard Drive, Flint. The event will feature a music show by Radio Disney with dancing and physical activities, an interactive cooking demonstration in which children will make a healthy snack, and stations for children to try different vegetables. — G.G.
