FLINT — Hurley Children’s Hospital, the only Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital in the region, and one of only four in Michigan, is the top winner of the Credit Unions for Kids online contest resulting in $50,000 awarded by Credit Unions for Kids.
In addition, Dr. Alan Klein, a pediatric dentist on staff at Hurley has donated an additional $10,000 on behalf of the Sheppy Dog Fund. This brings the total contest winnings to $60,000.
“I am thrilled to be part of this exciting win for Hurley Children’s Hospital and its pediatric patients,” said Dr. Klein. “I’m proud to support the vital services Hurley offers its youngest patients as the region’s only children’s hospital.”
“This $60,000 will go directly to Hurley Children’s Hospital, enabling us to continue providing exceptional care for all pediatric patients,” said Linda Tracy-Stephens, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Director. “We want to thank all of our loyal supporters. Every single vote made a difference.”
“We are so appreciative of all that credit unions have done for Hurley Children’s Hospital over the years,” said Melany Gavulic, president and CEO, Hurley Medical Center. “We are delighted that we could use Vote for Miracles to not only raise much-needed funds for our hospital but also tell the amazing story of the credit unions’ generosity through the Credit Unions for Kids program.”
The donation will be awarded in January. The specific date, time and location of the donation presentation are yet to be determined. — G.G.
