FLINT TWP. — Cherita Andrews, a Flint native who is a breast cancer survivor and former participant on NBC’s “ The Biggest Loser’’ will be a featured guest at “A Day Just For You 2+2,” a women’s healthy living event sponsored by Hurley Medical Center.
The free event dedicated to women will offer fun, food and fitness in a day of pampering and health education. It will include free health screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, etc.) education, fitness, food and more.
This special Women’s Healthy Living Event will be held on October 22, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. at the Riverfront Banquet Center, One Riverfront Center West (formerly Hyatt Hotel/Character Inn) in downtown Flint.
The highlight will be a luncheon panel of speakers including: Andrews, from “ The Biggest Loser,’’ season nine; Deborah Collyar, president of Patient Advocates In Research (PAIR), and Marsha Schmit, RN, BSN, Genesee County’s only Breast Health Nurse Navigator at Hurley.
Andrews, who now resides in Houston, was chosen along with her daughter Victoria in October 2009 to be contestants on “Biggest Loser.’’ She is a breast cancer survivor and has a family history of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure, according to her bio. Andrews was eliminated from the show on her first day for being the least fit but continued her weight loss quest on her own.
