Ice camps on the slate

FLINT TWP. — Flint Iceland Arenas will finish off their summer camp sessions with a figure skating and hockey camp. Camp Chill Out is for figure skaters in beginner to intermediate levels Aug. 9-13 from 8:45-3 p.m. Camp is open to kids ages 5-16. Cost is $149 per child with a 10 percent discount for second child in family.

The camp is run by Figure Skating Director Jennie Walsh and her staff. Skaters are divided into groups based on ability. Rental skates available at no cost. Package includes skating classes, practice ice time, crafts, games and fun.

Camp Power-Play is for hockey players ages 5-16 at the same times on Aug. 16-20. Cost is $199 per player and camp is instructed by Hockey Director Jon Jepson and his assistant Brent Korzecki, who coached for three years with the Junior A NAHL. Kids will be divided into Level 1 or Level 2, and some loaner equipment is available at no cost. Details: — L.P.
