Date set for annual C-A fundraiser

FLINT TWP. — The 4th annual Silent Auction fundraiser, hosted by the Carman- Ainsworth Education Foundation, will be held at 5:30-8:30 p.m. on April 27 at the Flushing Valley Golf Club & Banquet Center, 1124 E. Main Street, in Flushing. This year’s honorees are Brandon Carr, a Carman-Ainsworth 2004 graduate and current NFL player; Herb Jensen, former C-A central office administrator and Leanne Welch, a third-grade teacher at Rankin Elementary and coach of the C-A middle school VEX Robotics teams. Each is being honored for continuously and unselfishly giving their time, talents, and support for the good of C-A students, families, staff, and the greater school community. Tickets are $25 each and include a buffet dinner. A cash bar will be available. A silent auction of numerous valuable prizes is a highlight of the event. District Library events in February

FLINT TWP. — The Genesee District Library Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 19 in the conference room of the Headquarters branch, 4195 West Pasadena Avenue. The meetings are open to the public. Other events during the month include an African Drums program at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 featuring a professional musical group that has performed throughout the United States, the Islands and overseas, at the Vera B. Rison branch, 1386 W Coldwater Rd. A Kindred- Flint Volunteer Recruitment Program will be offered at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, at the Genesee Valley Center Library. Minnie Cabine, a volunteer coordinator and Hospice Social Worker will answer questions about volunteer opportunities. An Open Computer Lab will be held from 2-2:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at the headquarters library. Open to all ages. — R.S.

Hamilton CHN Hosts “Kids Dental Day”

GENESEE COUNTY — February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) is hosting a “Kid’s Dental Day.” If your child is overdue for a dental check-up now is the perfect time to bring them in. Services will be offered from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Feb. 19 at one of the three locations: Hamilton’s Main Clinic, 2900 N. Saginaw St., Burton Clinic, G-3375 S Saginaw St., or The Dental North Clinic, 5399 N. Saginaw St. Routine dental services will be provided for those who qualify. There will be fun activities for the children, raffle drawings, and great prizes.
