Water rate increase coming
FLINT TWP. — Effective for water bills issued after April 2, water rates will increase by $1 to $50 per month, depending on meter size. The increase affects only Genesee County’s readiness-to-serve charge which is a flat rate. Metered usage charges will not increase. The lowest increase will be to charges for a five-eight-inch meter which will go up $1 per month, or $3 per quarterly billing – rising from $23.51 a month to $24.51 per month. The largest increase applies to six-inch meters, rising $150 for quarterly billings from $1.175.50 to $1,225.50. For one-inch meters the monthly increase will be $1.50; for one-and-a-half-inch meters, $2.50; for two-inch meters, $5; for three-inch meters, $8; and for fourinch meters, $17.50. — R.S.
April events at the district library
FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township-McCarty Library, 2071 S Graham Rd., will present ARK Animal Encounters at 2 p.m. on April 21. This familyfriendly animal program is filled with funky-cool, touchable animals.
The Genesee Valley Center Library will host a Stranger Things Challenge at 4:30 p.m. on April 12. Dress as your favorite character (optional), figure out clues and solve Stranger Things puzzles to unlock the Breakout Box and get prizes. Make Stranger Things crafts, answer trivia questions and play 1980s ATARI video games. (For ages 9 & up)
The Headquarters Library, 4195 W Pasadena Ave. will hold a Galactic Goo class at 4 p.m. on April 10. Each young patron will get to make and take home a bag of their own outta-this-world goo.
The Headquarters Library will hold a Piecing Poetry program at 5:30 p.m. on April 18. Create a poetic work of art with unique phrases and decoupage. (All ages welcome)
