Robotics team seeking donations

FLINT TWP. — MO’ Peeps, the Carman- Ainsworth Middle School VEX Robotics still need public support to help pay for their trip to the World Competition next month in Louisville, KY. For the second year in a row, the team is in Middle School State Champions in VEX Robotics and two of only six teams from Michigan eligible to attend the World meet this year. So far about 27 donors help raised $1,900 of $6,000 goal on the teams’ gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/mo-peeps-aregoing to-worlds. The deadline for collecting the funds is April 11. — R.S.

Kickoff event for Child Abuse Awareness Month

GENESEE COUNTY — Paint Blue Prevention Partner Breakfast to kick off for Child Abuse Awareness Month will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. March 29 at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, 2300 Lapeer Road. Seating is limited. Following the informational breakfast will be a press conference featuring the ceremonial pinwheel planting. Pinwheels. the official symbol of a carefree childhood, are planted throughout the county during the month. Paint Our Town Blue is a public awareness campaign by a collaboration of organization to promote the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Genesee County through education and increased attention to this epidemic. Bike Drive Fundraiser

FLINT — Krystal Jos Bike Drive Benefit will be held March 31 from 7-12 p.m. at The Machine Shop, 3539 S. Dort Hwy, Flint.Tony Tucker, owner and operator of Krystal Jos Diner as well as the founder of the KJoS Bike Drive has set a goal of giving away 1000 bikes to Flint youth to be given out on June 9th 2018. Five dollar minimum donation at the door gets you admission 18 and over with ID and includes four live bands: Crimson Highway, Play to the Gallery, Todd Gilbert, E.Z. Duhzit and The Soul Jar. We will be accepting new and/or used bikes, helmets, pads or other bike parts as well as having raffles, 50/50, bake sale and door prizes.
