WFBA to hear from Drain Commissioner

FLINT TWP. — Jeff Wright, Genesee County Drain Commissioner, will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the West Flint Business Association, from noon to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Golden Corral buffet restaurant, 4200 Miller Road. Wright will talk about the new water treatment system and the effect of a “grand bargain.” Karyn Miller, Flint Twp. Supervisor, will give an update on township developments. Career Academy holding Open House

Election workers sought

FLINT TWP. — Anyone interested in becoming an elections inspector is invited to attend training meetings on May 17 and 19, said Clerk Kathy Funk. Pay is not great but the work is rewarding, she said. Interested residents ages 18 are invited to come to the township hall and sign up to take classes, Funk said. — R.S.

Next Township Shredding Day set

FLINT TWP. — Time to start spring cleaning for the next Township Shredding Day set for 10 a.m. to noon May 5 at the township hall parking lot. Residents will be permitted to bring two boxes of documents for shredding. Entrance to the parking lot will be off Reuben Street to eliminate traffic backups on Dye Road. The twice a year shredding event is well attended. — R.S.

Flushing Area Library book sale in May

FLUSHING — Friends of the Flushing Area Library’s Spring Book Sale is scheduled for May 3, 4 and 5. The sale will be held at the Senior Annex, during the following hours: May 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. (Early Bird Sale for members only; $5 Friends membership may be purchased at the door); May 4, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Open to the public); and May 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. ($2 bag sale all day). Flushing’s Mike Bowen Fundraiser

FLUSHING — Flushing resident Mike “Flagman” Bowen, part of the Shiawassee Harley Owners Group is raffling a 2018 Harley Davidson Street- Glide or $15,000 for individuals who do not wish to have a motorcycle.
