Great day for the Carman- Ainsworth Instrumental Music Department.

FLINT TWP. — The Carman-Ainsworth High School Concert Band and Symphony Band and the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School 8th Grade Band participated in the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Festival May 2-4 at Garden City High School.

Symphony Band received a 1 overall rating and 1 in sight-reading; the highest level.

Concert Band received a 2 overall rating and 8th Grade Band also received a 2 overall rating and a 1 insight-reading. —R.S.

McLaren Flint to Host Bone Marrow Donor Drive

FLINT TWP. — The Be The Match registry will host a bone marrow donor drive in two sessions May 17 from 6—10 a.m. at the Hospitality House at McLaren, G-3170 Beecher Road, Flint Twp., and continue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McLaren, 401 S. Ballenger Hwy (Dining Room 1). McLaren Flint and Walmart are partnering to host the drive. Anyone age 18 – 44 who meet the health guidelines can join. They should be committed to helping any patient in need and will complete a short health questionnaire and verify participation requirements with the marrow registry. 7th Annual LEGO Competition

FLINT — A Kid-Friendly art exhibition will be hosted by Flint Institute of Arts,1120 E Kearsley Street, May 12 from 1-4 p.m. This is a fun family event that everyone can participate in, observe, and enjoy. The Art School LEGO Competition is a day of events and creative play and activities including guided LEGO building sessions, open LEGO building in the Art School, LEGO-themed glass blowing demonstrations in the Hot Shop, and a screening of The LEGO Batman Movie in the FIA Theater. Mother’s Day Tea

FLINT — The Flint Cultural Center and Sloan Museum will host two times for Mother’s Day Tea on May 12, at noon and 2 p.m. at Sloan Museum, 1221 E. Kearsley Street. Celebrate Mother’s Day with a three-course tea, including scones, finger sandwiches, and dessert. Weather permitting, this event will be held in Sloan Museum’s Courtyard.
