CTPD to donate Tahoe to SCAFD
CLAYTON TWP. – The Clayton Township Board of Trustees has approved the transfer of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe to the Swartz Creek Area Fire Department from the Clayton Township Police Department.
Township Supervisor Chris Gehringer said the vehicle was no longer useful for police purposes.
Police department Interim Chief Charlotte Brown suggested donating the Tahoe to the fire department “as a gesture of good will and cooperation,” Gehringer said.
The township will maintain ownership of the vehicle, but the fire department will pay to insure it. – L.R.
Fire hall to get new door
CLAYTON TWP. – Door Mart LLC, a Durand company, submitted the low bid for replacing a damaged door at Fire Station #2, 1494 Seymour Road.
Door Mart, one of three bidders, will complete the work for $1,248. The other bids came in at $1,940 and $3,848.
Township officials say they are not certain how the door sustained damage. – L.R.

Junk in the Trunk
BURTON — A “Junk in the Trunk” event takes place from 10 a.m.-12 noon May 19 at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church, 4040 Lapeer Road. Cars will be lined up at the church with their trunks open in the parking lot at the church to give away items in the trunks. The items include clothes, household items, book and more.
