Car rams house

FLINT TWP. — Township police and fire departments responded about 2:22 a.m. on May 30 incident in the 3300 block of Southgate Drive. Initially reported as an entrapment, officers arrived to find that a vehicle traveling southbound had driven off of the road and crashed through the exterior wall of a residence, coming to rest in the living room of the home, according to a police report. The residents of the home who were inside at the time of the crash were not injured. The driver, a 43-yearold male City of Flint resident, initially fled the scene on foot but was located a short distance away and lodged at the Genesee County Jail. The investigation revealed that speed and alcohol appear to be a factor. The case will be presented to the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office. — R.S.

Southbound Hammerberg Road closed at I-69

FLINT — Southbound Hammerberg Road at I-69 will be closed and detoured to accommodate overnight bridge work on westbound I-69. Motorists can expect this closure between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. from June 4 – June 11. This work is weather dependent. — R.S.

Recycling days set

GENESEE COUNTY — Dates have been set for the 2018 Genesee County Recycle Days and includes some additions. New this year will be Tuesday collections from 2-6 p.m. on June 12, July 10, August and October 9 at the Mott Community College, Parking Lot S, 156 Albert R Horrigan Drive in Flint. The fall collection is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Carman- Ainsworth Middle School, 1409 W Maple Ave. and at the Flint Water Service Center, 3310 East Court Street, In Flint. C-A now accepting Schools of Choice applications

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Schools is accepting Schools of Choice applications for the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year. There are limited openings at all grade levels at Carman- Ainsworth — Baker Career Academy, C-A High School and C-A Middle School. Applications for grades K-5 must be received by 4 p.m. June 13.
