FLINT TWP. — The township administration building will be closed on Tuesday, August 7 election day, but the election division will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday August 4 for voters to obtain absentee ballots. Police hosting National Night Out

FLINT TWP. — Police Chief Kevin Salter announced that planning is in full swing for the annual National Night Out event held from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8 on the grounds of the police station on Norko Drive. The event offers the public a chance to meet and mingle with first responders and also to learn more about public safety. The police department has hosted the event for about 12 years which now includes the Flint Township Fire Department, Metro Police Department and Swartz Creek Fire Departments. Many business vendors also attend to distribute information and freebies. There will be a bounce house for children and opportunities for them to win prizes. Township Trustee Tom Klee said they still are looking for donations to use as raffle prizes. The goal is to have every child attending the event leave with a prize. — R.S.

Summer meals provided

FLINT TWP. — While school is out for the summer, Meet Up and Eat Up, is a free summer meal program created to ensure that children in lower-income areas continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation, when they do not have access to the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Programs. Deadline near for C-A Schools of Choice applications

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Schools is accepting Schools of Choice applications for the second semester of the 2018-2019 school year. There are limited openings at all grade levels at Carman- Ainsworth — Baker Career Academy, C-A High School and C-A Middle School. The application period for grades K-5 ended June 13.
