Black History Month nominees sought

FLINT — The Genesee District Library is accepting nominations for individuals and organizations to be honored at the annual Black History Month Brunch. FOX66 Fall Festival 2018

FLINT — The annual FOX66 News community festival will be held Sept. 8 from 12-5 p.m. at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Road This is a totally free event, no admission or parking fees! This year’s festival will be held completely indoors and is expected to feature a petting zoo, face painting, Kidcaster (meet the news team), your favorite princesses and super-heroes, gaming trailer, BMX shows, Michigan Child ID Program, scavenger hunt and much more. Mustard’s Retreat benefit concert for Flint

FLINT — The Flint Folk Music Society, in conjunction with the Flint Public Library and Mustard’s Retreat, are producing a benefit concert for, and a celebration of, the people of Flint. It will be presented at the Flint Public Library, 1026 E. Kearsley St., Sept. 21, at 6:30 pm. Admission is free, but a voluntary donation of water or non-perishable food is requested. No monetary donations will be accepted, but information will be available that night as to where you can contribute to support the people of Flint. Mustard’s Retreat has been synonymous with folk music in the Flint area since the late 1970s, when they appeared frequently in the area. Mustard’s Retreat has just released a new CD, their 14th, entitled “Make Your Own Luck.” Included on it is a song Tamulevich adapted to address the Flint Water Crisis called “Take the Children and Run”, available at: youtube.com/watch?v=Nc_ BxEyyqV8 .
