Flushing Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 31 at the Signature Chophouse on East Pierson Rd. The Chamber will be bestowing honors upon several Flushing residents who have excelled in their service to the community. Award categories include Educator of the Year, City Employee of the Year, the Community Spotlight Award, Chamber Ambassador of the Year and many more. A cocktail reception and auction preview starts at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner, live auction and the awards presentations at 7 p.m. The cost to attend is $35. Flushing Area Senior Center Open House

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Senior Center will be holding an Open House for prospective members on Jan. 10 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The event will present area seniors with the chance to learn more about the FASC and sign up for center’s enrichment and recreation classes. Information on changes to Medicare and veterans benefits will also be available. Lunch will be provided. — B.G.

Paleo Joe’s Dinosaur Program

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Library will present Paleo Joe’s Dinosaur program on Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. Learn about the extinct wonders from a real paleontologist who spends several months a year digging for fossils across the United States. Features new casts, models and fossils. This event is for ages six and up. — B.G.

AARP drivers’ training

SWARTZ CREEK — An AARP drivers’ training course will be offered from 105 p.m. Jan. 23 and 24 t the Swartz Creek Senior Center, 8095 Civic Drive. AARP members pay $15 to participate; non-members pay $20. Sign up at the center by Jan. 16. Payment is required at time of registration. — L.R.

Reflective house numbers

SWARTZ CREEK and CLAYTON TOWNSHIP — The Swartz Creek Area Fire Departments accepts orders for reflective house numbers. The 18-by-6-inch green signs help emergency responders locate addresses more easily. Numbers are mounted on both sides and can be set up horizontally or vertically. Installation is provided for residents of or adjacent to the Swartz Creek and Clayton Township areas. The signs cost $20. For information, call 810-635- 2300. — L.R.
