2018-19 Friday Applewood Lecture Series

FLINT — The Mott Community College (MCC) Lifelong Learning office announces the 2018-19 Friday Applewood Lecture Series. The next program in the line-up is: Amy Rouleau will present “The Building of the Restoration Place,” on Jan.18, at 10 a.m., a nonprofit organization whose primary vision is to provide long-term aftercare for girls who have been sexually exploited through Human Trafficking. This series especially designed for senior citizens, but is open to everyone runs through May. FLINT — Factory Two hosts a seminar on the exercise of journaling Jan. 5 from 1–2 p.m. at Factory Two, 129 N. Grand Traverse Street. New year, new habits! GoJournal offers free courses on prompt journaling, which can help you stay productive and on-task in your day-to-day life. 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

FLINT — The United Way of Genesee County will host a volunteer day of service Jan. 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Rd. Please join us in uniting under Dr. King’s belief that many social ills can be defeated through citizen service. Recognizing that 1 in 5 Genesee County families deal with hunger, we will be packing 80,000 meals to provide to local Genesee County residents who are experiencing food insecurity. No experience needed and for all ages (kids ages 5+). Registration is required for each volunteer at Lunch will be provided. — P.S.

FLINT — The Whiting continues its 2018- 19 Season in the New Year with dance, music, Broadway and spectacle! Russian National Ballet – Sleeping Beauty kicks off the second half of the season on Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Classic Albums Live presents the Eagles’ Hotel California on Jan. 18th at 7:30 p.m. at The Capitol Theatre. The Whiting’s McLaren Bright Lights and Broadway series opens with RENT on Friday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. and on Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Whiting’s HAP Family series continues with Cirque Mechanics’ 42FT on Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
