Township looking for volunteers

FLINT TWP. — Residents interested in volunteering to assist the Flint Township Road Advisory committee, not as member but to help make recommendations on how to spend millage money, should contact the township offices at 810-732-1350. Learn to love public speaking with the Toastmasters

FLINT TWP. — Have you ever had shaking knees during a presentation? Had to make a toast at a friend’s wedding? Wondered how you could handle communication more smoothly? Have you ever just wondered what Toastmasters is all about? Hint: We are more fun than you’d expect. Here’s your chance to see what Toastmasters can do for you!

The group meets every Wednesday morning; 7:30-8:30 a.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Rd.

Club is not a religious organization and is not affiliated with the church.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches communication and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs.

Tax help for seniors at the Senior Center

FLINT TWP. — Tax help for senior citizens will return to the Flint Township Senior Center, 2071 S Graham Rd., just in the time for the 2018 tax season. Beginning Feb. 1 and every Friday through tax season, tax help will be available for senior citizens. Call the center at 810- 732-6290 to make an appointment. — G.G.

Swiss Steak Dinner

FLUSHING — The Flushing Masonic Lodge is having a Swiss Steak Dinner on Feb. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Flushing Masonic Center. Dinner is $10 per person and take-outs are available. Questions: contact Jan Todd at 810-240-0272.

At next month’s dinner on March 17, the Flushing Mason will be accepting donations to the Flushing Christian Outreach Center. FCOC serves anyone in the 48433 zip code area. The FCOC will accept food, clothing, personal care items, pet food, small household goods and cash donations. Any items or cash donated will be delivered to the FCOC on Mar. 18. — B.G.

Take the Chili Cook-Off

MONTROSE — Bring your appetite to the inaugural Take the Chili Cook-Off on Feb. 16 at the Montrose Pub in Montrose. The doors open at 12 p.m. and the contest starts at 1 p.m. Spectators will get a four ounce sample of each chili entry for $5. This family friendly event is brought to you by Genesee County Clerk John Gleason and the Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce. The Montrose Pub is located on 10714 W. Vienna Rd. — B.G.
