Time for a policy update
FLINT TWP. — A committee has been formed to meet with the township attorney to review and update township policies and procedures.
At a recent meeting, the board approved Treasurer Sandra Wright and Trustees Belenda Parker and Frank Kasle to serve on the review committee working with attorney Peter Goodstein.
Wright said the current document was written in 1997 and has never been revised or updated. The committee’s recommendations will be forwarded to the board’s personnel committee then on to the full board for final approval. — R.S.
Keep Genesee County Beautiful conference registration being taken
FLINT TWP. — Township Trustee Barb Vert, who sits on the parks and recreation board, announced at a recent township board meeting that the Keep Genesee County Beautiful annual Leadership Conference is coming up March 3. It is free to the public and designed to provide how-to information for a variety of beautification tasks. Workshop topics this year include composting, grant writing, perennial care, recycling, tree care, vegetable gardening, pest management and more. About 400 people attend the event each year which concludes with the Annual Beautification Awards Program.
Registrations are requested no later than three days prior to the event and can be made by calling 810-767-7676, faxing a completed registration form to 810-820-8462 or mailing it to Keep Genesee County Beautiful, 1509 E. Court St., Flint, MI 48503.
Registration forms are provided online at www.keepgeneseecountybeautiful.org/ The Conference is held on the first Saturday in March every year from 8 p.m.–1 p.m. at the University Center at UM-Flint. Old Newsboys holding Valentine gala
GRAND BLANC — Dust off your formal duds for the “black tie optional” Old Newsboys President’s Valentine Gala at Warwick Hills Country Club Feb. 11 from 6 p.m.–12:30 a.m.
The band FOG, aka Four Old Guys, will perform along with a “top secret surprise” says Linda Campbell, funding development director for the Old Newsboys. A variety of items are up for the silent and live auction fundraiser including a signed bottle of Igor Larionov wine, a sunset cruise, guitar signed by Lady Antebellum, limited edition signed art prints and jerseys to name a few.
Tickets are $75 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a commemorative photograph from Hick’s Studio and valet parking. Call 810-744- 1840 for reservations and entrée preference. Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club is at 9057 S. Saginaw in Grand Blanc. — M.R.
