Spring into Summer Family Fun Fair

FLINT TWP. — The Spring into Summer Family Fun Fair will be held May 18 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Resurrection Reformed Church, 5225 Calkins Rd. (at the corner of Calkins and Dye roads). They will have Yevettes Gourmet Taco Food Truck, a bounce house, Genesee STEM Academy, Hurley Medical Center, MSU Cooperative Extension Service, Flint Institute of Arts, Thomas Smith Memorial Foundation, Bike Safety with the Flint Township Police Department, fire truck from the Flint Township Fire Department, arts and crafts, face painting, farm animals and free popcorn and treats.

Work on I-75 closes lane

FLINT TWP. — A single-lane closure will be in effect on the Maple Road overpass spanning I-75 in Genesee County while a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) crew installs a temporary barrier to prevent traffic from using the shoulder of westbound Maple Road. This barrier will prevent traffic from placing unnecessary weight on the bridge fascia beam, which has sustained damage from previous high-load hits. A project to replace Maple Road over southbound I-75 is planned in 2020. — G.G.

Flushing Historical Society salutes the military

FLUSHING — “Salute to the Military” is the 2019 display theme of the Flushing Area Historical Society Museum at the historic Flushing Depot. On display are uniforms, documents and other memorabilia from the Civil War to recent conflicts made available by friends of the historical society. The museum is located at 431 West Main Street (at the Railroad Tracks) and is open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (thru September), as well as Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and by appointment. Artifacts from Flushing history are also on display. Admission is free and donations are accepted. — B.G.

Local salon collecting to help Flint family

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Project HALO will be collecting donations and products for a silent auction/ raffle to help the Johns family of Flint who have two special needs children aged two and eight-years-old. See the Able Not the Label 5k Run/Walk and Family Fun Day

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Autism Support & Resource Center will host a new run and family event on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Creasey Bicentennial Park, 1505 E. Grand Blanc Road. This is the 13th Annual Family Fun Day but includes their first timed 5k Run and Walk at 12 p.m.!
