GCDC welcomes new Surface Water Management Division Director
FLINT — The Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office (GCDC) welcomes Tom O’Hara, who was appointed as a Deputy Drain Commissioner overseeing GCDC’s Surface Water Management Division. O’Hara replaces longtime Director Jim Gerth, who is retiring after 44 years of service to Genesee County.
O’Hara has worked at the Genesee County Drain Commissioner’s Office for the past 39 years, holding several positions including Superintendent of Maintenance, a position he has held since 2003. O’Hara has been instrumental in nearly every drainage improvement project undertaken by this office for the past two decades, including work completed last year at Bicentennial Park in Grand Blanc.
“Tom O’Hara brings a wealth of experience, unparalleled dedication, and a determined commitment to public service,” said Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright. “I have the fullest confidence in his abilities and look forward to our Surface Water Management Division continuing the highest level of responsiveness to the residents we serve,” said Wright.
O’Hara will oversee a staff of 15 individuals responsible for operating and maintaining more than 1,400 drainage districts, as well as stormwater management in Genesee County. The Division also constructs and maintains Lake Level Controls on rivers and water bodies within Genesee County. — G.G.
