Cooking with kids!

FLINT — Commit to Fit features Cooking With Kids at The Flint Children’s Museum, 1602 University Ave. This free hands-on program teaches families to make healthy food choices, while learning to cook fresh, affordable recipes from diverse cultural traditions. Upcoming sessions July 9-30 on Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; July 11-August 1, Thursdays 5:30 to 7 p.m.; August 8-29, Thursdays 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Participants are invited to arrive 45 minutes early and play in the museum for free weekly incentives provided. Ice Cream Social

FLINT — The Ferris Wheel and Foster Coffee Company host an Ice Cream Social in conjunction with July’s second Friday downtown Artwalk. Stop in on Friday, July 12 from 6–9 p.m. at The Ferris Wheel, 615 S. Saginaw Street. There will be an ice cream sundae bar open to the public! The event will include: Full ice cream sundae bar, cocktails, live painting session, and live music. Plus, you can tour and network with the businesses and members in the building! — P.S.

Wet Paint Day

FLINT — The Flint Institute of Art and the Ruth Mott Foundation present Wet Paint Day! Saturday, July 13 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the Applewood Estate, 1400 E. Kearsley Street. Both events are open and FREE to the public. Plein Air Painting at Applewood: 10 a.m.– 3 p.m. and Reception & Wet Paint Sale at FIA Art School: 5–7 p.m. Enjoy the beautiful Charles Stewart Mott Estate while invited artists from across the state paint en plein air. Meet the artists and watch them paint. While on site, enjoy live music, family friendly activities, and free guided house, and garden tours—no reservation required. The Flint Symphony Orchestra strings group will be playing from 1-2:30 p.m., Art activities provided by the FIA onsite in our barn classroom, enjoy Applewood-mint tea, made with fresh mint grown at the estate!
