FCS retirees hosting first reunion

FLINT — Retirees from the Flint Community Schools are hosting their first Flint Community Schools’ Reunion for all retirees, former and current employees, board members, and their guests.

The event will be Aug. 3 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Circus Park Banquet Facility, 4240 West Wilson Road, Clio, MI 48420. The cost is $20 per person, which includes dinner.

Tickets can be purchased by mail from Jerry Respecki, 620 Third St., Owosso, MI 48867. Please make checks payable to Jerry Respecki. Please secure your tickets by July 19 so we can get an accurate count.

Coney Dog Eating Competition at Bueche’s Food World

FLUSHING — Come join the Flushing Area Chamber of Commerce as it hosts its 2nd Annual Coney Dog Eating Competition on July 25 at Bueche’s Food World. Flushing Museum Car Show

FLUSHING — The Flushing Area Historical Society will be hosting its 6th Annual Car Show on July 21 at the Flushing Depot. The activities will start at 2 p.m. with a line-up of Model A’s and other classic vehicles, as well as a free ice cream social. The museum will also be open for tours from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Young people attending the show can also win prizes for judging the cars and asking questions of the owners. Watershed seminar set

SWARTZ CREEK — The GFWC Swartz Creek Women’s Club will sponsor a free seminar with the Flint River Watershed Coalition at 7 p.m. July 31 at the United Methodist Church of Swartz Creek. Light refreshments will be served.

Coalition Executive Director Rebecca Fedewa and Education Program Manager Autumn Mitchell will discuss watersheds, what they mean for individuals, how the Swartz Creek waterway affects the Flint River, how area residents can help protect the waterway system and the Flint Riverfront Restoration Plan. — L.R.
