Local travel agent appointed to editorial advisory board

GRAND BLANC — Local travel agent John Schmitt, CTC of Superior & Frankenmuth Travel Service was recently appointed to the Editorial Advisory Board of Travel Market Report.

Travel agents serve on the Editorial Advisory Board at the invitation of Travel Market Report for a one-year term with the possibility of renewal. The Board meets quarterly with the publication’s management and editorial staff for the purpose of supporting it to fulfill its charter as the “voice of the travel seller.”

Baker offers industry specific training

OWOSSO — Baker College of Owosso is offering a variety of industry specific workshops in March and April.

“Hazardous Waste Management and Compliance” will cover annual RCRA requirements under 40CFR as well as USDOT training per 49CFR. Participants will learn how to properly identify, ship and dispose of RCRA hazardous waste. Topics will include: handling wastes generated in your organization, mandatory EPA regulations, annual RCRA hazardous waste management regulations, contingency plans, DOT Federal hazardous material regulations/ awareness, and more. This workshop will meet March 23 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Baker College Bentley Campus Board Room.

Zonta Club accepting nominations

GENESEE COUNTY — The Zonta Club of Flint 1’s Genesee Regional Women’s Hall of Fame will hold their third annual induction of women into the hall of fame on April 19 at a reception to be held at the Flint Institute of Arts.

Currently the Genesee Regional Women’s Hall of Fame is housed at the Sloan Museum.

Nominations are being accepted by the Selection Committee for the Genesee Regional Women’s Hall of Fame with a deadline of Feb. 28.

Candidates may have achieved distinction in any field of endeavor. Category examples: Agriculture, Arts and Letters, Athletics, Business and Industry, Civil Rights, Education, Family Life, Health Care/Human Services, Labor, Law and Government, Religion and Philosophy, Science and Technology.
