Flint River Flotilla 2019

FLINT —The Corridor Alliance Chapter of Flint River Watershed Coalition hosts a trip down the Flint River on Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Tenacity Brewing, 119 N. Grand Traverse St. Bring your inflatable, canoe, kayak, or paddle board and join the Flint River Flotilla 2019! $10 gets you admission to the best floating party in town and an after-party with food, music, and fun. Back to the Bricks Revving up for 2019

GENESEE COUNTY — The area’s favorite summer event is revving up with Tune Up Parties running Aug. 5-10, in local communities near you! Starting Aug. 5, downtown Main Street in Davison hosts the first Tune- Up Party/Cruise-In, followed by Clio on Tuesday, Linden on Wednesday, Fenton on Thursday, Swartz Creek on Friday, and Mt. Morris & Beecher on Saturday. This week prior to the main event, excitement builds as the Tune-up Parties offer related attractions and activities (varies by location), but include a 50s, 60s, or 70s theme, concessions, vendors, live music, dancing in the streets and giveaways, including ELGA Credit Union sponsored with brand new designs unique to that community. Diabetes classes

FLINT — Diabetics can learn how to live a healthier life and take better care of their selves in a free, six-week workshop presented by the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) who will host the evidence-based Diabetes Personal Action Toward Health (D-PATH) program starting with an information session Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fairhaven Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1379 Louis Ave. Six weekly sessions follow Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and continue through Sept. 17. FLINT — Commit to Fit features Cooking With Kids at The Flint Children’s Museum, 1602 University Ave. This free hands-on program teaches families to make healthy food choices, while learning to cook fresh, affordable recipes from diverse cultural traditions.
