Hurley NICU Reunion

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Hurley Medical Center hosts their annual reunion of babies and families who spent the first few days, weeks or months of their lives in the Hurley Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on Aug. 29 from 3–7 p.m. at Bicentennial Park, 1505 E. Grand Blanc Road. Come out for a FREE fun-filled afternoon of food, games, prizes and activities. Many Hurley NICU doctors, nurses and NNP’s will be at the event. Inaugural Deaf Civil Rights 5k run/walk

FLINT — The Michigan Deaf Association and MI Deaf Health host the first Deaf Civil Rights 5k run/walk on Sept. 14, at 8 a.m. at the Michigan School for the Deaf, 1235 W. Court Street. Sales end on Sept, 1 at 8 a.m. September is Deaf awareness month! This race was envisioned as a way to promote physical and spiritual health and to increase public awareness of deaf issues, people, and culture. All proceeds from the 5K will provide the resources to our local deaf community and will fund programs, workshops, and scholarships to help the deaf community thrive. Details: P.S.

Casino Bus Trip Fundraiser

SWARTZ CREEK — Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, Luck of the Irish Casino Bus Trip Fundraiser will depart for Firekeepers Casino Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s (4413 Morrish Rd.) and return at 5 p.m. Cost is $40 per person and includes $20 in gaming and $5 in food.

Proceeds go to the food pantries of St. Mary’s Queen of Angels and St. Johns Davison in honor of An Gorta Mor (the Irish potato famine) for Hunger Awareness month.
