Fall Cooking with Kids classes

FLINT — Classes will take place at the Flint Children’s Museum. Pre-registration is required for this free, hands-on program which teaches families to make healthy food choices while learning to cook fresh, affordable recipes from diverse cultural traditions. Free breast cancer screenings

FLINT — Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute (GHCI) will conduct free breast cancer screenings Thursday, Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at GHCI, 302 Kensington Avenue. The screenings are open to anyone of any age and no appointment or pre-registration is necessary. Simply walk in and you will see a physician who will conduct the exam. Halloween Party

FLINT —Voices for Children Advocacy Center hosts a public Halloween Party, Oct. 18 from 5–8 p.m. at the Voices for Children Advocacy Center, 515 S. East St. Come celebrate Halloween with family friendly activities and light refreshments. This year we will be exploring the Unknown with our theme from the Cartoon Network series “Over the Garden Wall.” Come trick or treat with us, make a few take-away arts projects, and play! Halloween Hootenanny

FLINT — Longway Planetarium and the Flint Cultural Center hosts a Halloween event Oct. 19 from 5–8 p.m. at Longway Planetarium, 1310 E. Kearsley St. Bring your little ghouls and goblins for a fun night of dancing, trick or treating and more! Dance the Monster Mash and enjoy a showing of Ooky Spooky Light Show. Fashion Show

FLINT — The members of PEO Chapter CW/ FN (Philanthropic Educational Organization) of Grand Blanc will be hosting a fashion show/ luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Flint Golf Club, 3100 Lakewood Drive. Fashions will be shown from Just Julie’s of Flushing, Kim Rose of Grand Blanc and Marta’s of Holly. This fundraiser supports various PEO loans, grants, scholarships and Cottey College—helping women further their education.
