Red Kettle Campaign
FLINT TWP. — The Flint Township Firefighters Association will be raising funds for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign. Firefighters will be ringing the bell from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Corunna Road Walmart store. Stop in and say hello, check out a fire truck or ring the bell. All Red Kettle funds and donated items stay in the local community. — B.G.
Absentee ballots for March 10 election coming in January
FLINT TWP. — Flint Township Clerk Kathy Funk announced absentee ballot applications for the March 10 presidential primary election will be mailed out Jan. 2 for anyone wishing to be added to the permanent absentee voter list or who will be out of town.
Funk also announced there will be a countywide millage proposal question for Mott Community College included in the primary election. Voters will choose between a Democrat or Republican ballot for the presidential primary and will vote on the millage on a separate ballot. — J.J.
Flushing Knights of Columbus Raffle
FLUSHING — The Flushing Knights of Columbus #8489 will be holding a raffle drawing on Dec. 14. Prizes include a Generac Portable Generator and gift certificates from Bueche’s Food World. Raffle tickets are $5 each. All proceeds will go toward supporting the Flushing K of C chapter and the St. Joseph Council #2211. GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Arts Council presents an exhibit of Art Quilts by
Mary Andrews; inspired by a Chihuly exhibit at the Botanical Gardens in Phoenix where the fabric is hand dyed, then fused and machine quilted (some are also painted and hand embroidered). The exhibit is through Jan. 14, 2020 at the Grafted Root Eatery in the Coach Stop Plaza, 12235 S. Saginaw Rd. FLUSHING — Mayfair Bible Church will be hosting a Live Nativity Scene on Dec. 13, 14 and 15 from its location on 5339 W. Pierson Rd. All ages will enjoy an exciting indoor journey through ancient Bethlehem. In addition, there will be a Christmas Café with cookies and hot chocolate, plus a kid’s activity area and live music. An outdoor petting zoo will include camels and sheep. Guided tours through the Live Nativity will be held every 15 minutes from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
