Genesee Health Plan accepting nominations for ‘Health Care Hall of Fame’
FLINT — The Genesee Health Plan is accepting nominations for its inaugural “Health Care Hall of Fame” awards, which will honor local citizens and organizations who are making the greatest positive impact on promoting quality, affordable and accessible health care.
“There are a lot of people throughout Genesee County who are working hard every day to improve the quality of life for local families, and it’s important that they’re recognized for their dedication to making our community a better place to live,” said Genesee Health Plan CEO and President Linda Hamacher.
The award ceremony will be held March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 5353 Gateway Centre in Flint, as part of the Genesee Health Plan’s “10 Years of Success” celebration.
Awards will be given in the following categories:
• “Visionary Leadership”: awarded to local people and organizations that have provided leadership for creative solutions to accessible, quality and affordable health care. Nomination forms are available at www.geneseehealthplan.org or by calling 810-232- 7740 ext. 203. Nominations are due by March 9 by 5 p.m.
• “People’s Choice Health Care Hero”: awarded to the physician, nurse practitioner or clinic chosen by the public for exemplary quality of care and patient communication. This award will be determined exclusively by the results of an online questionnaire available through March 19 at www.geneseehealthplan.org. The Genesee Health Plan will also give out the “Best Practices in Partnerships” award to an organization that has joined with GHP to provide quality, affordable health care to Genesee Health Plan members. — G.G.
Kidney cancer support group to meet
FLINT — The Kidney Cancer Educational Support Group will meet March 13 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington Ave. Featured speaker: Dr. Susumu Inoue, Pediatric- Oncology Specialist, Hurley Medical Center.
The topic: “Difference in the Outcome for Adolescents and Young Adults with Leukemia and Cancer Treated by Pediatric vs. Medical Oncologists.” Meeting is open to the general public.
